Blaze was one in a litter of three puppies born in January of 2000.  He was the smallest in the litter, so he received extra one on one time with us to give him a break from being harassed by his big brothers.

When he was about 6 weeks old he was asleep on the couch when he suddenly woke up, moved and fell off the couch injuring his front leg.  We immediately rushed him to the vet, who sent us to an orthopedic specialist, who placed his leg in a cast for the next 6 weeks.  While his brothers continued to romp and play Blaze spent most of his time being pampered by his human servants.

The months passed, Blaze matured, and there were no further problems with his leg.  Although he refused to relinquish the constant pampering to which he had become accustom.  So, when he reached 9 months of age we decided that it was time to hit the shows. It all began with the Blossom Valley Beagle

Club Specialty where he took Best Puppy in Sweepstakes and then under breeder judge Carol Tyte took Best of Winners / Best of Opposite Sex in Specialty.  He followed it up the next day by taking Best of Winners / Best of Opposite Sex and a Judges Award of Merit.  We

were so thrilled with his wins that we decided to take him to the Phoenix specialty and see if he could continue his winning ways.  He did not disappoint us, again taking Best of Winners / Best of Opposite Sex at the specialty on Friday

and again at the show on Sunday.  After two

weekends, and five shows Blaze had 13 points and 4 majors.  We then took him to Long Beach and finished his championship with a Best of Variety.  Blaze was finished from the Puppy Class in a total of 6 shows completely Breeder / Owner handled.

Then in early 2001 we decided to co-own Blaze with Carol and send him on the road with Mike and Karen Kurtzner.  They began showing Blaze at the Santa Clara Valley Kennel Club in February 2001 and on his first day out took a Group 1 followed by a Group 2 the following day.  That was the beginning of a wonderful specials career that earned Blaze a Best in Show, a Best in Specialty Show, over 130 Best of Variety Wins, and over 70 group placements including 15 group wins.  He was also Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed at the 2001 Beagle National.

Blaze is still the same pampered puppy that he was before all of this started, and is now establishing himself as a very promising stud dog (See a few of my offspring).  He is a true 13” beagle with wonderful bone, movement, head, ear set and more importantly temperament and health.  He is proving that he can pass on all of the wonderful attributes that made him the great show dog that he was.
